Hallaron en El Palmar un ajuar funerario indígena que tendría dos mil años de antigüedad

Peones rurales de un campo ubicado en cercanías de laguna El Palmar, en Santa Fe, hallaron durante una excavación restos óseos, puntas de cerbatanas y otros objetos que, según expertos, conforman un ajuar funerario de indios abipones y que puede tener 2.000 años.

Los restos, que fueron encontrados en un campo que se dedica a la cría de ganado en el noroeste provincial, son analizados por especialistas del Museo Municipal de Arqueología, de la localidad de Reconquista.

El director del museo, Dante Ruggeroni, dijo que se trata de "un paquete funerario que probablemente tiene entre 1.500 y 2.000 años". "Creemos que lo hicieron los indios abipones", señaló el especialista al diario El Litoral.

Los indígenas de esa etnia sepultaban a sus muertos en una fosa con sus objetos personales, como un vaso o sus armas, mientras que los paquetes eran elaborados para trasladar a lo que consideraban "muertos sagrados".

Por eso, los especialistas se mostraron entusiasmados ante la posibilidad de que los objetos hallados en el ajuar funerario correspondan a algún cacique, guerreros o hechiceros abipones.

Ruggeroni recordó que esos aborígenes solían "descarnar los cuerpos en algún arroyo, para que no se pudriera la carne en el viaje, y se llevaban sólo los huesos en un paquete de cuero, como pasó con el general Lavalle en el siglo XIX".

Los especialistas analizarán los objetos con el método comparativo de carbono 14 para poder datar con precisión su antigüedad. Los abipones vivieron en la región del Gran Chaco hasta la llegada de los españoles. Eran guerreros y vivían de la caza y de la pesca. (DyN)



Chaqueños originarios

Los chaqueños originarios se dividían en dos grandes grupos:

Los mbayás, tobas, pilagás, mocovíes y abipones de lengua guaycurú

y los matacos, mataguayos, vejoz, guisnay, maká, milbalá, matará, chorote y chulups de lengua mataco-mataguaya.

Ambos grupos eran nómades y basaban su economía en la caza, pesca y recolección. Las mujeres recolectaban algarroba, chañar, tunas, mistoles y tubérculos, realizaban las tareas del hogar y tejían distintas prendas con fibras vegetales y lana. Los hombres cazaban pecaríes, venados, tapires y ñandúes. Los pueblos que habitaban en la ribera de los grandes ríos pescaban.
La adopción del caballo tuvo una gran repercusión en el modo de vida de los guaycurúes. Utilizado por los abipones, mocovíes y tobas, el caballo les permitió el desplazamiento rápido y fácil por el territorio chaqueño.



ABIPONES

En el área de los sanavirones se encontraban también los abipones, originarios de las costas del río Bermejo. Eran nómades y aguerridos. Se alimentaban de los productos de la caza, la pesca y la recolección de frutos, especialmente de algarroba y miel. Comían carne cruda y se emborrachaban con aloja y guarapo. Eran altos y bien formados. Su nombre proviene de “avapone”, que quiere decir hombre hediondo.

Santiago del Estero sufrió sus desbastadores malones.
